Nextnews Report, Dhaka : Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) is going to celebrate 20th Anniversary Celebration BMCCI Programs in conjunction with the historic celebration of the birth centenary of our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh.

This will be BMCCIs flagship event to celebrate its 20 Years Anniversary with more attractive trade & investment in Bangladesh. Considering the current global economic trends, bilateral trade & investment between two such close Asian neighbours carry more national and regional importance than ever. In addition to the 20 Years celebration, the program will explore key trade and investment opportunities that exist for Bangladesh in particular from its Malaysian counterpart.

The Meet the Press started with one-minute silence in honour of the demised soul of the founder president of BMCCI Datuk A. K. M. Shahidul Islam. The press conference was presided over by Raquib Muhammad Fakhrul, President, BMCCI and moderated by Syed Almas Kabir, Immediate Past Vice President, BMCCI, Chairman, Organizing Committee of BMCCI 20 Years Anniversary Celebration, President of BASIS and Director of FBCCI. Among others, the function was also attended by the Board of Directors of BMCCI.

In his welcoming speech, BMCCI President Raquib Mohammad Fakhrul (Rocky) said that Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing countries in terms of economic growth and Malaysia being the sixth largest importing country of the world with a positive balance of payment have immense potentiality, we need to explore the potentiality considering the present economic scenario and could be ensured through establishing a bilateral alliance. Today, the Chamber represents a milestone in the evolution of Bangladeshi interests in Malaysia and Malaysian investments in Bangladesh and vice versa, which is foundational in our bilateral relations. He also added that he feels the Chamber will only expand trade and economic interaction for the benefit of not only Bangladesh and Malaysia but also of its trade partners. Most importantly, it will grow our influence as an economic base in the South East Asian markets in the regional context.

Syed Almas Kabir, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of BMCCI mentioned that the objective of the celebration is to Facilitate and promote business opportunities for South-East Asia businesses and BMCCI Members; Provide a Forum for networking, mentoring, and consultation for South-East Asia businesses and BMCCI Members growth; Bringing Unity of South-East Asia Business Owners and BMCCI Members on a National & International level; Promote Products and Services of both Bangladesh & Malaysia Corporations and BMCCI Members that support the advancement of South-East Asia Pacific;

Syed Almas Kabir also briefed the press about the program details of the Celebration event. He mentioned that Hon’ble Speaker, H.E. Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP has kindly consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. All concerned ministers, prominent personalities of Bangladesh business community, Joint Chamber leaders, and other dignitaries like Govt. Officials, Academicians, Policy Makers, Economist, Researchers, etc. are also expected to attend the program.

There was a fruitful interaction with the Press on different issues of bilateral trade and investment such as FTA, Sukuk bond. LDC graduation, export diversification etc. BMCCI management urged the media personalities to highlight the issues in their publications as one of the spokespeople of the private business sector.
