Md Towsif-ur-Rahma,, JnU Correspondent: To bring the public transport system under digitalization, Md. Mahdi Hasan Sourav, a student of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Jagannath University, has created a mobile based application named “Go Bangladesh”. The project has already received a grant of 10 lakh taka from Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA). The project has been assisted by JnU CSE Department Associate Professor. Zulfiqar Mahmud and former student Zahidur Rahman. Besides, Jahangir Hossain, Rezaul Karim and Nishat Mahmood have been working as associate members of the team.

Their project was ranked in the top 100 in ‘Mujib 100 Ideas’.

Md. Mahdi Hasan Sourav, Mastermind of the project, said, “Himachal Paribahan is willing to take our services. Talks are underway with the city transport. BRTA can try this service for free if it wants. There is no alternative but to bring the public transport sector under digitalization.”

The Go Bangladesh project is a modern public transport system based on mobile applications, an alternative to the current system, accurate, secure, reliable and affordable. Using QR codes, digital wallets, mobile banking and tracking systems, the project will be able to bring passenger transport workers and transport owners in the same shadow. Unregistered buses and drivers will not be able to use the system. There will be a QR code on the back of each seat of the bus. The QR code of the seat will be on the back of the front seat where the passenger will be sitting. Passengers can only pay the fare by selecting the destination by scanning the QR code in front of them. Money will be deducted from the digital wallet. Advance tickets can also be booked through this app.

If there is any comment or complaint regarding travel, passengers will be able to provide it up to a certain time. Which can be seen directly by transport owners. This will stop harassment of passengers. Passengers will be able to pay their fare by cash, rocket or card. Passengers’ payments will be added directly to the transport owner’s merchant account. The owner will then pay the rent or salary to his bus driver. He (the owner) can also view the bus location, driver details, passenger information and passenger complaints at any time.
