Md Towsif-ur-Rahma,,  JnU Correspondent: Many students are going through a tough time with their mental health. Because of depression or mental pressure, many students are losing their lives. The Suicidal rate of students are increasing day by day. JnU Psychology department came forward to help the students.

So, with a view to help the students in stablizing their mental health, JnU Authority has formed a Commitee making Professor Dr. Noor Muhammad (Chairman of Psychology Department) the Convener. The commitee was conveyed in a notice signed by the Registrar of JnU Enginneer Md Ohiduzzaman.

Convener of the Mental Health Committee of Jagannath University, (Chairman of the Department of Psychology) Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad said, “As per  our current situation, it should be done on an urgent basis, but thanks to our VC Sir, we have been able to start our work.” Although the appointment of councilors is a matter of process, we will start our work with experienced councilors voluntarily from next Monday.

“University students are the soul of JnU and so we will start our work with the goal of keeping our beloved students mentally healthy,” he added.

It is to be noted that in a few days, some students of JnU have chosen the path of suicide. Sir was asked whether the committee has been formed keeping that in mind or the work was already underway. Replying to the question, he said, “The Department of Psychology of Jagannath University always thinks about the mental health of the students. Councilors have been appointed in other universities. We have come forward considering that they are working on the mental health of the students.”

It was not possible for various reasons to take the initiative that was tried during the time of former VC Mizanur Rahman Sir. Our new VC Dr. Imdadul Haque Sir discussed with everyone and saw that the issue was needed. He thanked Sir for making this issue a reality.
