“Bangabandhu | The Man Behind The Nation”

    ……….. Towsif ur Rahman

Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had one of the great nationalizes leader in the world. Bangabondhu was the pioneer and architect of independent Bangladesh and its sovereignty. His political prudence, indomitable courage, eloquence and powerful leadership motivated the countrymen to join in the war of liberation.

15th August is the National Mourning Day. At the momentous night of August 15 in 1975, the cruelest assassination of history took place.

August 15 in 1975 is a black-chapter in the history of Bangalee nation. Bangabondhu and his family members were ruthlessly murdered by anti liberation force and with the help of army member in this day. And the nation incurred an irretrievable loss. The nation is deeply shocked and full with grief for this shameful incident.

The country today observes National Mourning Day on the 34th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabondhu, with a vow to implement the longstanding High Court verdict in the case in connection with his murder. The day is a public holiday.

“We gave blood in 1952, we won a mandate in 1954. But we were not allowed to take up the reins of this country.” —  Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman or Bangabandhu was one of the pioneers in the creation of Bangladesh from it’s very beginning. A charismatic, politically visionary and most courageous leader of our country, who delivered one of most iconic wartime speeches on 7 March 1971, which still inspires Bangladeshi people today. From announcing a non-violent movement to leading the country’s reconstruction after the war, Bangabandhu had a significant impact. His sacrifice for this country exemplifies patriotism at its finest. It takes a lot of bravery to declare independence on March 25th, when Pakistani forces were on the offense against Bangladesh. He was the one who maintained his persona while the Pakistani authorities did whatever they wanted. He never gave up on the Bangladeshi people. To conclude, the younger generation must adhere to his lessons via their lifestyles in order to bring this country to its pinnacle in every way imaginable.

Leaders are not born, leaders are made by people. If it were not so, would the son of a middle-class family be the father of a whole nation! Anyone who hears Bangabandhu’s speech, starts trembling in his veins. Blood pressure rises when you hear the name Bangabandhu. This was the biggest energy to free this country otherwise it was not possible to turn the common people of this country into a heroic army! From school life to the last day of his life, this man has witnessed a very difficult moment. But in reality, it was a difficult time for his humane treatment of the power-hungry people of this country. And he himself said that, “incompetent leadership, unprincipled leaders and cowardly politicians should never go to work for the country together. The destruction of the country and the people is more than the service of the country.” In this, he was willing to accept death knowingly. Alas! How beautiful a country I would have been if Bangabandhu had alive today. Even we lost him forever but his ideal will remain as long as the world remain. Bangabandhu means Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the name that resonates in the Bengali National Assembly forever, the name that sits in the seat of hypnosis in glory. Whose personality and leadership has made him immortal, undisputed. This is the name of a hypnotic force, which in the sublime call, and cowardly Bengali did the great revolution, snatched victory.
“In the thousand year history of Bengal, Sheikh Mujib is her only leader who has, in terms of blood, race, language, culture and birth, been a full blooded Bengali. His physical stature was immense. His voice was redolent of thunder. His charisma worked magic on people. The courage and charm that flowed from him made him a unique superman” — Journalist Cyril Dunn.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ,the father of our nation ,is an impeccable name engraved in gold in the history of the world. His mind used to aggrieve to see the impoverished and helpless people since his childhood. That is why he could not turn a blind eye after seeing the injustice done to the majorities of East Pakistan by the ruling class of West Pakistan in all areas, including socio-economic and political spheres.Through his historical speech on March 7, 1971, Bangladesh coronated as a new country by calling on the people of East Pakistan to fight for independence against the Pak army.Under his leadership, after a long nine-month bloody struggle, our country became known as a new state on the world map.His contribution to the progress of the country’s development in all areas including education, employment, infrastructural development, rebuilding the war-torn country in the post-war period is undeniable. The golden period of this bright star of Bengal was terminated on 15th August, 1975, when he died by a haphazard attack of a cunning enemy at his residence.Undoubtedly he was the architect of the nation who brought about a revolution in the social and political dyanimc of the country, above all, in the life of the common people.
