Md Towsif-ur-Rahman, JnU correspondent: A workshop on ‘Students Attitudes on Whistleblowing’ was held at Jagannath University. The day-long workshop started Thursday (18 May) at 10 am in the seminar room of the political science department of the university. 26 students from different departments participated in the workshop. In the workshop, the session on ‘Whistleblowing and Virtual Whistleblowing in Bangladesh’ was conducted by Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, Associate Professor of Govt and Politics Department of Jahangirnagar University. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, a postgraduate student of the same department, conducted the session on “Public Interest Information Disclosure Act-2011”. Besides, Faisal Zaman Shishir, lecturer of Sirajganj Islamia Government College conducted the session on ‘Significance of Whistleblowing’. Mr. Mejbah-ul-Azam Saudagar, Chairman of the Department of Political Science, was present as the President in the inaugural session. In addition, project director associate professor Dr. Nurul Huda Sakib, Associate Professor Dr. Naeem Akhtar Siddique, Project Assistant Mahfuzur Rahman gave an orientation speech about the workshop.
Project Director and Associate Professor Dr Sakib has been awarded ‘The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)’ on ‘ Transparency and Accountability in Government Exchange Program’ by US Government in 2021.
The workshop was organised with the funding of the prizes received to rise awareness among the students.
Assistant Professor of Political Science Department Moonmoon Mashrafee was present in the workshop in charge of overall cooperation. Besides Assistant Professor Sharif Noorjahan, Assistant Professor Rakiba Sultana Ratna, Assistant Professor Lutfunnahar etc. were also present in the workshop.
