Md Towsif-ur-Rahman, JnU Correspondent: Professor Dr. Imdadul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Professor of Botany of Dhaka University has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) for four years.
An order in this regard has been issued on Tuesday with the approval of the President and signed by Mahmudul Alam, Deputy Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education.
In an interview over phone with the appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Imdadul Haque, he said, “His Excellency the President and the Honourable Prime Minister have appointed me as the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University with full confidence. I will uphold their trust. I will try my best to make sure that Jagannath University develops greatly in the field of research and to advance JnU as a world class University. ”
The term of his appointment as Vice-Chancellor is four years. However, if applicable, he shall return to the original post at the age of regular service and complete the remaining period of the previous term after completing the formalities of retirement. He will receive the same salary and allowances as his current position, will enjoy other benefits related to the position as per the rules, will have to be on the University campus full time as the head executive of the University.
The order also states that the president and chancellor can cancel the appointment at any time if necessary. The order issued in the public interest has been asked to be implemented immediately.
