Md Towsif-ur-Rahman,JnU Correspondent: On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the general students of Jagannath University observed a symbolic hunger strike in solidarity with the students who were protesting for the resignation of Farid Uddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

From 12 noon to 1 pm, some general students of the university took part in a symbolic fast at the Shaheed Minar of the Jagannath University.

Expressing solidarity with the students of SUST, they said that the movement of the students of SUST is reasonable. Vice-Chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed should accept the demands of the students and resign immediately.

It is to be noted that the movement started on 13 January, 2022, centered on Jafrin Ahmed, the Provost of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall of SUST. Subsequently, the movement took the form of a movement for resignation of Vice Chancellor Farid Uddin Ahmed based on the attack on general students of the agitating university. To speed up the movement, 24 students went on hunger strike which is still going on.
