Md Towsif-ur-Rahman,JnU Correspondent: Beckman’s 2nd International Language League Divisional Election Round was held on 22nd and 23rd March (Tuesday and Wednesday) at Jagannath University’s Institute of Modern Languages ​​(IML) under the auspices of North South University’s Department of English and Modern Languages.

 This year’s division is being held in 32 institutions in 8 divisions all over Bangladesh.  Competitors in English, Bengali, Chinese, German and French have been able to participate in a total of 9 subjects at Junior, Secondary, Higher Secondary and Tertiary level to prove their proficiency.

 The Institute of Modern Languages  (JnU) venue held short story, debate (group) and wall magazine writing last Tuesday and handwriting, present lectures, acting, character presentation, news presentation, script writing, poetry writing and recitation on Wednesday.  In this, students of 32 educational institutions of Dhaka (South) participated in a festive atmosphere.

 In the debate competition, a team of St. Gregory High School led by Gazi Wasif Huda, two teams of Mainal Mubashir and Khademul Islam Limon from JnU were selected.  In addition, more than 15 candidates were selected for the semi-final round in various categories from the IML.  Besides, students of various educational institutions including Nazrul College, St. Gregory, St. Joseph have been selected by participating.

 Khandaker Montasir Hasan, Director and Associate Professor of  IML (JnU), said such competitions are a great platform for developing the talents of the students.  We are proud to be a part of it.

 Former director of IML, Prof.  Protiva Rani Karmakar thinks that such competitions will enhance the language skills of the students as well as make them proficient in cultural matters.

 IML (JnU) will be involved in such Olympiad competitions in future also, said Assistant Professor Niaz Alamgir.
